[He focuses back on the cat, and both the strange passivity -- an ordinary animal would panic and struggle -- and the mechanical paw get him to stop and consider the situation.
Then he lets out a long-suffering sigh. He hates this place.]
Vash? [He lets go of the cat, studying it for a reaction.]
[ As soon as he's released Vash sits up and shakes himself off, the large ears flapping a bit with the force of the movement. A moment later he's standing up on tall spotted legs and moves to headbunt Knives directly, not unlike he's done recently only this is a little strange considering it's coming from a lanky cat that seems more keen on rubbing what he can of his face against Knives' own in what is probably a fairly obnoxious manner.
[Knives doesn't have nearly the experience that Vash does with animals, so to get nuzzled by a cat is a bewildering experience. He doesn't push him away, though, instead reaching to touch the fur of his neck like he can't quite believe what he's seeing.]
[ It's probably a little eerie to see a cat roll its eyes but Vash does, and then lets out a sound that can only be read as an argument. A simple, pointed: ]
Mrah.
[ As if to punctuate it the tail he has swishes back and forth once as he sits down on his back legs. That said, he does lean into the touch at his neck, head lowering to make it easier to reach. ]
[ Why would he? It wasn't on his radar as important. All he does to answer is chirp again, but this time it's followed up with a very quiet rumbling purr as he lies down, mismatched front paws tucking underneath himself.
He's still cold, and he COULD have been warm if SOMEONE hadn't freaked out for no reason. ]
[The purring is kind of relaxing, honestly, and he's distracted enough by petting him that he only remembers as an afterthought that Vash gets cold, lying down and drawing the covers back over them both.]
[ Judging by the way he immediately flops over on his back, rolling against his brother to soak up as much body heat as possible and the way the volume of purrs increases, it's definitely better.
It doesn't keep him from chirruping back, once, then twice more, paws making slow air biscuits. ]
[ HE'S Ridiculous? Did you see your face Knives? Over a cat? Vash stretches out his front legs, reaching up to push at Knives' chin, little cat claws gently flexing into skin.
His little mouth stays open a bit, the purrs louder and happier despite clearly being obnoxious on purpose. ]
[ It's attention seeking behavior don't be rude. The action gets his back legs kicking, tail swishing back and forth until he winds up rolling himself over and immediately attempting to headbutt underneath Knives' chin instead.
[Despite -- or perhaps to try and stop -- Vash's fidgeting, Knives draws an arm around him and pets his fluffy chest.]
You had better not make a habit of dabbling in this kind of magic.
[Even if he's encouraging it by cuddling him, he'll also inevitably find something to worry about. What if he gets stuck like that, or something goes awry?]
[ The petting doesn't dissuade his fidgeting, but it does result in Vash head bunting upwards, dragging his cheeks over Nai's jaw with a deep, resonating purr.
A moment later he's licking a stripe up the side of his brother's face with his weird, barbed cat tongue -- a reassurance maybe? He doesn't seem concerned about getting stuck like this at least. ]

Why are you a cat? Who did this to you?

You didn't tell me you could do this.

[He mutters under his breath, but there's an underlying fondness as Vash tucks himself up against him, Knives scritching the fur under his chin.]
